Event to bring together DOE, national labs, utilities, and industry six days from now on August 25
LOS ALAMOS, N.M. — With just days to go before the Los Alamos Nuclear Forum, anticipation is building around what organizers are calling a landmark gathering for America’s nuclear industry, one that will spotlight New Mexico’s unique position as the only US state spanning the entire nuclear fuel cycle, from uranium mining and enrichment to advanced reactor deployment and waste disposal.
The Forum, hosted by the New Mexico Nuclear Alliance under the theme “Built in New Mexico. Deployed for the Nation,” will take place August 25, 2026, at the SALA Event Center in Los Alamos. It arrives at a moment of renewed national urgency around nuclear energy, driven by surging electricity demand from AI data centers, grid reliability concerns, and a bipartisan push to secure domestic energy supply chains.
The Forum will bring together Department of Energy leadership, Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories, utility executives, investors, Tribal community leaders, and universities from across the state for a full day of keynotes, panel discussions, and networking.
The event’s sponsor roster reflects the breadth of the industry now converging on New Mexico, including the Nuclear Energy Institute, Oklo, Westinghouse, Urenco USA, and NANO Nuclear Energy, spanning everything from reactor developers to fuel-cycle infrastructure providers.
Organizers say the Forum is designed to do more than showcase New Mexico’s nuclear legacy. It aims to position the state as the operational backbone for the next phase of American nuclear expansion, connecting federal policymakers, investors, and entrepreneurs with the labs, facilities, and workforce already in place.
