
Advanced reactor developer TerraPower has formally expanded its strategic cooperation agreements with key South Korean energy and engineering firms to accelerate the commercialization of its Natrium sodium-cooled fast reactor technology.
The expanded collaboration builds upon long-standing technical partnerships, aiming to integrate Korean industrial capabilities into the global supply chain for the Natrium reactor, which is currently in the initial construction phase for its first commercial demonstration in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Under the latest agreements, TerraPower will leverage Korean engineering expertise in nuclear pressure vessel fabrication, modular plant construction, and advanced instrumentation and control (I&C) systems.
Key partners, including major domestic heavy industry entities, are expected to provide specialized manufacturing support for the reactor’s primary coolant loop components and steam generation units. This move is designed to enhance the scalability of the Natrium fleet by diversifying the supply chain and reducing potential bottlenecks associated with high-precision nuclear component production.
